Municipality of Fundão distinguished by the European Commission for good practices in the integration of migrants

The Municipality of Fundão was distinguished on October 29, 2024 by the European Commission for the work carried out within the scope of the labor integration of migrants. At the origin of this distinction is the project “Fundão Acolhe: Training Center for Third Country Nationals” which between 2022 and 2023 promoted professional training modules that focused on skills in high demand in the regional labor market, helping to overcome the lack workforce accentuated by phenomena such as the progressive population loss in the interior of Portugal.

This distinction is part of the survey of good practices at European level that takes place within the scope of the European URBACT Program (click here to check out all the distinguished projects). In addition to the distinction in the context of the integration of migrants, the Municipality of Fundão was also honored for being a Municipality friendly to investment and innovation and for the execution of the “CraftLab” project.
