1st edition of "Welcome, Immigrant Woman"
Between April and May 2025, over eight meetings held at the MEDEIA Space in the Municipality of Fundão, the first edition of "Welcome, Immigrant Woman" was held as part of the Welcome Immigrant Woman (WIW) project and the Fundão Municipal Plan for the Integration of Migrants – MIXin3.
During the various sessions, collective reflections were held on key themes related to adaptation to portuguese society, such as communication, regularization, rights, health, education, work, gender-based violence, well-being, discrimination, social support, identity, and belonging.
The main objective was to create a space for sharing, which welcomed life stories, questions, information, strategies, and connections among migrant women at different stages of their migration journey.
To facilitate participation, the program offered emotional support, snacks, socializing, a children's play area, and a symbolic dynamic called "Threading the Thread," which accompanied the emotions evoked during each session.
The event involved 25 women, 24 of whom completed the entire course (a fact that reinforces the program's engagement and relevance to participants). To access the WIW project's Facebook page, click here.
